Kolkata + Darjeeling

On this 9-day trip, expect all the feels. From touring the busy markets and cultural wonders of Kolkata, to 

connecting with women and girls in rescue centers and local communities, this trip is an experience of a lifetime. Before returning home, hike, relax and process with us at a retreat in Darjeeling.

In collaboration with Her Future Coalition, author, activist and founder, Sarah Symons joins Amanda Cunningham and Marisa Watts to unite women from around the world. This trip is designed to give you equal parts of everything.

Trip includes:

  • 5 nights at a western-style hotel near the busy city center of Kolkata & 4 nights at a retreat center in Darjeeling

  • domestic flights from Kolkata to Darjeeling

  • yoga classes led by Amanda Cunningham & Marisa Watts (all levels of experience welcome, participation optional)

  • group processing circles or 1:1 private therapy sessions with yoga therapist, Tish Roy (participation optional)

  • all meals and filtered water

  • 3 full days of shelter volunteer experiences 

  • visit Mother Theresa's Tomb & enjoy a Kolkata Walking Tour, Confluences of Cultures

  • market visits for shopping fair-trade goods

  • airport transfers to hotel upon arrivals

  • all taxes, tips and service charges included

  • $2000 tax-exempt donation to Her Future Coalition and an education sponsorship of a child for 1-year

Trip does not include:

  • international airfare

  • airport transfer from hotel at departure 

  • alcohol or wine (welcome to purchase yourself!)

  • spa treatments at retreat center

Example Schedule

Day 1 - arrivals to hotel, welcome dinner

Day 2 - introductions and presentations, lunch at Calcutta Bungalow, afternoon options to shop fair-trade markets

Day 3 - visit Mother Theresa's Tomb, visit Red Light Resource Centers, arts workshops with the children

Day 4 - visit the jewelry center (vocational trade training) and make a piece with one of the female metalsmiths, visit EkTara School and meet your sponsored child!

Day 5 - Calcutta Walking Tour, visit shelter home, options to purchase artisan made goods, arts workshops with the children

Day 7 - domestic flight from Kolkata to Darjeeling, relaxation day

Day 8 & 9 - optional hiking, yoga, processing, therapy, spa and pool relaxation

Day 10 - departures

*schedule subject to change depending on shelter & schools current circumstances - final schedule will be sent days before the trip and confirmed on day 1. Each evening a team member sends the following day's schedule via our group WhatsApp thread.

  • many guests choose to stay in India longer to explore other parts and/or plan to visit the Taj Mahal together

  • we offer a Zoom meeting before trips for attendees to meet each other, this helps with travel anxiety! 

  • we try our best to link solo attendees up at layover airports so you have a travel buddy arriving to Kolkata
